Qinghai Treasure Glassland

“Jin Yin Tan”  is set against the backdrop of the Qinghai Jin Yin Tan area, a land that once held strategic significance but is now the site of an abandoned nuclear weapons research facility, bearing witness to the shadow of technology and warfare interwoven during the Cold War era. The work explores themes of war, memory, and self-destruction in human history. It combines natural imagery, historical relics, ancient rituals, and the ghosts of modern technology to create a space filled with absurdity. Flocks of crows take shelter from the heavy rain under eaves, while the deserted nuclear weapons facility stands in silent stillness, as if the fractures of history and the marks of human disaster continue to flow silently through time.

Through various media, including video, sound, and installation, the artist reconstructs and represents these relics, responding to the concept of “corrected time” and inviting the audience into a disorienting experience of time and space. In this space, time neither moves forward nor backward, but remains eternally fixed at an unreachable moment—both unchangeable and unforgettable. There is no clear timeline, no definite beginning or end, collectively forming an unresolved image that reflects humanity’s inescapable pain and anxiety within the torrents of history.
